Kentucky’s own Rep. Thomas Massie just introduced eight articles of impeachment against Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and forced the House to confront them. We walk through every article, what Massie is actually charging, whether the claims rise to high crimes and misdemeanors, and why this is bigger than one vote that leadership will try to bury.

The charges:

• Articles I–III — Iran war without a declaration, ignoring Congress’s withdrawal directive, and blowing past the War Powers Resolution’s 60-day clock

• Article IV — Ignoring laws meant to minimize civilian casualties

• Article V — Extrajudicial killings: replacing maritime law enforcement with lethal strikes on suspected drug boats (Massie cites 221 deaths)

• Article VI — Retaliating against Sen. Mark Kelly for constitutionally protected speech

• Article VII — Directing Operation ABSOLUTE RESOLVE to seize Nicolás Maduro without constitutional authority

• Article VIII — Unlawful war in Yemen (Operation Rough Rider) with no authorization and no imminent threat

We also cover the part nobody in D.C. wants to say out loud: Massie is putting Republicans on the record now. If Democrats take the House and Senate after the midterms, this resolution becomes a template. Same standard. Different targets. That is the precedent.
